Memories

~~
Deep in my mind are memories of you:
Your smiling face and long dark hair,
Your tender loving voice said words true,
And your beating heart proved you did care.

I still see you in my nightly dreams,
And I feel your embrace day and night.
Your love is still mine, or so it seems,
Because it shines in my heart as a light.

Your vision haunts my every thought,
And everything that I say and all I do,
Result because of the love that I sought.
And when I loved you, I was never blue.

Those memories remind me of the past,
And how things between us used to be.
Sadly, I realize that our love failed to last,
And I wonder if you felt as hurt as me.

Memories that tell me that I was wrong
Keep me lamenting this sad, sad song.

A Picture

 ~~
When the time passes slowly,
And I have a minute or two,
I get out your picture,
Just a likeness of you.

That warm smiling face,
 And those beautiful eyes,
Are only a piece of paper
But a picture tells no lies.

When you seeing you, dear,
And talking to you on the phone
Is impossible and cannot be,
Your picture is there when I'm alone.

Yes, it's just a photograph
That captured your lovely face,
And recreated your smile -
For now, instead of an embrace!

When the Rain Fell

~
Ere my window, I gaze intently,
And watch the rain fall gently.

The window, open ever so slightly,
Allows the rain to enter lightly;
The moisture has found a place
In my heart splashing my face.
There was a time when the rain
And the wind whispered your name.

Once, into her eyes I gazed intently,
Standing in the rain falling gently.

Trickling down our cheeks like tears,
The cool rain erased all of our fears.
The moon was hidden somewhere,
But we knew that it was there.
The stars we didn't see that night,
But we knew that all was so right.

But one day when the rains were gone,
We were parted, and I was left alone.

Ere my window, I gaze intently,
And watch the rain fall gently.

There Comes A Time

~
There comes a time when
When love comes to an end.
But I've not found
That time around
That will cause our love to die,
Which would make me cry.

There comes a time when
A love must begin.
And I've found that time,
I've found mine.
Our love will always last,
Until all time has passed.

You're the Reason Why

~
You're the reason why,
You're the reason I
Feel the way I do,
Why I'm never blue.
You're the reason why,
You're the reason I
Have feelings I can't hide,
Why I'm happy deep inside.
You're the reason why,
You're the reason I
Have these feelings of love,
That you I'm dreaming of
You're the reason why!
You're the reason why!
Every time you're near
And your voice I hear,
It brightens up my day
And everything I say
Goes to show to you
That my love is true.
You're the one I need.
You're the one indeed!
You're the one for me,
Darling can't you see?
Every night and day
I hope and I pray
Our love will last forever
And it will pass on never.
You're the reason why,
You're the reason I
Feel the way I do,
Why I am never blue.
You're the reason why.
You're the reason why.
You're the reason why!

Time Stands Still

~
Time stands still when a man is lonely;
Time stands still when he's lost his only.
Time rambles slowly on for a lonely man
Who needs love to give time a helping hand.
Once, time flew quickly for a man in love,
For he was blessed with a gift from above.
But now the miles are many, wide and far,
And his heart aches from loneliness' scar.

Time stands still for the broken hearted;
Time stands still for those who are parted.
But once love has entered a man's life,
There is no longer any pain, any strife.
Time no longer stands still - it flies,
And a man with love lives and ne'er cries.
Yes, time stands still day and night;
Time stands still and all is not right!

Here I Stand

~
Here I stand!
The soft wind blows in my face;
I long to be in your warm embrace.
I need to be held in your arms
And to surrender to your charms.
Now, alone I stand!
We may be away and apart,
But you are near in my heart.
In my mind's eye your smiles
Have closed up the many miles.
But, alone I stand!
How I yearn to be where you are,
But now the miles are many and far.
I remember when it was better -
We were in love and together.
Yes, here I stand!

Just A Word

~
Before, it was just a word
That I had often heard;
It didn't mean a thing,
Nor did it make me sing;

I never felt funny inside,
Or had feelings to hide;
One word with four letters -
I didn't know any better!

But then, there was you!
At first, I didn't know what to do.
You showed me the way,
You taught me what to say;

Now it's more than just a word -
It's the sweetest I've heard!
You and the word I think of -
You and just the word - love!

A New World

~
When my eyes met yours,
I was in a strange new world:
A world where the oceans
Are moved by the winds' motions,
A world where the mountains
Overlook the marble fountains,
A world where the blue sky
Yields to birds on the fly,
A world new and strange
That our hearts can arrange.

When my lips met yours,
I was in a strange new world:
A world where those in love
Share stars in Heaven above,
A world where love lasts
for everyone and never passes,
A world where an embrace
Is born from a smile on a face,
A world new to you and me
And in that world we'll see:

Love that is strange and new,
Love that is always true,
Times under the starlit night
That for lovers are right.

Love is from the One above,
As is, a new world of love.

Grass Roots

~
Roots are a flower's hold on life;
Without them, a flower dies.
Roots soak moisture from the earth,
And the flower lives on.
But once the flower is picked,
And broken from its roots,
The beauty as well as the life
Is removed from the flower.

But flowers alone do not have roots.
Love is a firm root within man.
These roots are stronger than grass.
The flower may be picked
But the roots of love remain!
Yes, a loved one (the flower)
May be picked from one's heart,
But the will to love, it lives on.

Come On, Turn On

~
When the sun goes down and it turns dark,
Me and my baby go for a drive and we park.
I turn off the ignition key
And I pull her close to me.
At first she's kind of slow,
Like a girl who don't know.
But when I say these words to her,
She makes love like no other!
Oh, come on! (Come on! Come on!)
Oh, turn on! (Turn on! Turn on!)
It doesn't take long for her to move!
It doesn't take long for her to groove!
When I get her goin'
There is no slowin',
She's with me all the way,
And does what I say ...
I'm high up in the sky above
When me and my baby make love.
Oh, come on! (Come on! Come on!)
Oh, turn on! (Turn on! Turn on!)

Fair Weather Heart

~
The skies are blue and the seas are green,
But things just aren't they way they seem.

You say with love your heart is warm;
But inside I know there's a brewin' storm.
The rains may come and the rains may fall;
There'll be heartaches and that's not all.

The rain will be in the form of tears
Leaving me heartbroken many years;
And a purgin' from your ruby red lips,
Cyclonic winds will hurl me in dips.

You're going to leave me, I know you are,
And you'll leave my heart with such a scar.
You say you love me, you say you do,
But I know you'll leave me feelin' blue.

But there will come a time for me,
If you don't believe, just wait and see.

The skies are blue and the seas are green,
But things just aren't they way they seem.

When a love is turning untrue it is known;
I know that soon you'll leave me all alone.
But before I'm hurt, this one thing you'll learn;
And ever thereafter my love you will yearn.

Yes, I know how you've been treating me,
And I know how you've been cheating me.
I can't allow this to go on much longer,
My spirit isn't broken, it's much stronger.

Only you will be hurt by your stormy heart
When there comes that day that we part.
I know when you leave me, I'll surely cry,
I know when you leave me, I'll surely die.

But I'll get over the misery and the pain,
And someday, somewhere I'll love again.

Yes, the skies are blue and the seas are green,
And things just aren't the way they seem.

The skies aren't blue and the seas aren't green,
'Cause things are just the way they may seem!
For you see, I am the one who is blue,
Because you, my love, have been untrue.

And don't you see, I am the one who is green
"Cause with envy the other guy I have seen.
My time will come sometime, someday,
And to you, this I will attempt to say:

You're unpredictable as the weather above,
Maybe someday, someone will want your love!

Oh yes, the skies are blue and the seas are green,
And no, things are just not the way they seem.

Why? What is the Reason?

~
My head spins around; I'm off the ground.
My heart, I can't control; My mind starts to roll.
My blood turns warm; There's a brewin' storm.
My mind does wander; And I always ponder:

Why? What is the reason?
Why? What is the reason?

The answer is plain to see; It's what you mean to me.
The answer needn't be said; Nor if written, said.
For the answer is at heart; And the answer I'll impart.
If your mind does wander; And if you always ponder:

Why? What is the reason?
Why? What is the reason?

The answer we'll find; Locked within each mind.
Open your heart and listen; With tears your eyes glisten.
We knew it all the time; The answer was sublime.
Our minds won't wander; Nor will they ponder

Why? What is the reason?
Why? What is the reason?

A Tower of Love

~
I'm high above the earth
On a tower of love,
Above everything of worth
Below me above.

Higher than even the clouds,
And the mountains,
Atop the people in crowds,
And the rivers and fountains.

Your love has lifted me high;
My hopes, my life -
On a tower in the sky
And ending my strife.

I tower over everything,
Except the ONE above!
I'm in Heaven and awing
On a tower of love.

My Dear Heart

~
Well, good morning, heart.
How are you today?

Let's get off to a good start
As we go on our way.

The sun is shining bright
Through the window;

What a beautiful sight -
The world all aglow!

As I open up my eyes,
The world is anew.

As I breathe with sighs
I smell the fresh dew.

Well, heart, What'll it be?
What's in store for me?

Is it something I can take?
Or is it another heartache?

A girl with a pretty face,
And a gentle embrace -

I tell myself she's mine,
For she is so fine.

But when I say aye,
My heart, you deny!

I feel she's for me,
But you say it can't be.

Yes, I know she's right -
Just like the other night:

I met her at a dance
And I took a chance.

I held her and pulled her close;
'Twas her love I chose.

And as I continued to hold her,
This is what I told her,

Just what I thought of her,
That there'd be no other.

She said she was sorry and late
To meet her steady date.

I learned my lesson well,
I'm sure you can tell.

With you, I could never part,
My dear, faithful heart.

Dawn of a Heart

~
How much can a heart take,
How much can a heart bear,

When a man has a heartbreak
And no one seems to care?

How long can a heart last,
How long can a heart beat,

When a man's love is past,
And he must cry in defeat?

The sun doesn't shine anymore,
And the moon is now gone.

The stars aren't as before;
Life is one continuous dawn!

I Saw You Today

~
I walked and talked with you today,
And we had plenty to do and say.

It was wonderful to see you again;
Oh, what a great time it had been.

We talked over our times now past,
And agreed that they'd always last.

We embraced each other awhile,
And share each other's smile.

Our lips met with sweet content;
None of our love has been spent.

But when I opened my eyes,
I could no longer see you!

Was it the truth, or was it lies?
But I know I saw you!

The Way That I Feel

~
The way that I feel depends on you.
There are times when
I feel low.
There are times when
I feel high.
When I am away from you
I feel low.
When I am near to you
I feel high.
The way that I feel depends on you.
